On Friday, July 19, 2024, many businesses around the world faced a sudden IT outage. Catch of the Month: Public Wi-Fi Scams
Public Wi-Fi networks are convenient but risky. While they provide easy internet access in public places like coffee shops, airports, and libraries, they also expose users to various scams and security threats. Hackers can intercept the communication between your device and the internet, capturing sensitive information like login credentials and personal data.
How to Stay Safe: Avoid using public Wi-Fi altogether. If you must use it, use a Virtual Private Network (VPN). A VPN encrypts your data which makes it harder for hackers to intercept. Turn off automatic connections to public networks. Always verify the legitimacy of the Wi-Fi network before connecting. Last but not least, never access sensitive information on public networks.

MVP Partner Spotlight: Virtual Medical Care
Virtual Medical Care (VMC) is a 24/7/365 On Call RN agency. The concept for the development of VMC began in 2014, where the agencies serving the developmentally and intellectually disabled recognized the beginning of nursing shortage to provide 24-hour RN support. People Inc. began a small model where there were nurses covering after hours, overnights and weekends. As the model became successful, providing 24-hour coverage and decrease in nurse burnout, several other agencies in the Western NY area asked if there was availability to service their organization as well. Due to the increasing need for services, Virtual medical Care PC was formed, which provided opportunities for community-based services as well. VMC officially launched services in June 2020 with four contracts. Since that time, they have added an additional 11 contracts, and service approximately 325,000 individuals across NY State.
“With having past positive relationships with MVP, Virtual Medical Care’s only choice was MVP to assist us in building our new business. We have grown exponentially over the past four and a half years, and MVP has made every transition for expansion an easy process. They have also linked us with additional services they have used in the past with success. We are very pleased with all the availability and services they have provided for us, especially having 24/7 technical support. We are grateful to Megan McPeek and Steve Garrison for seeing us through this journey.” - Annette Phillips RN BSM ACM, VP Clinical Services at Virtual Medical Care
