A Practical Remote Work Security Checklist That Actually Holds Up at Home
A strong remote work setup does not require complicated tools or constant oversight. It requires a clear baseline that is easy to follow and consistently applied.
Lock Your Screen Every Time You Step Away - Even at home, short moments matter. Use automatic screen locks and build the habit of locking your device manually whenever you leave it unattended.
Store Your Laptop Securely When Not in Use - Treat your work device like something valuable. Avoid leaving it in shared spaces like kitchens or living rooms, and never leave it in your car.
Do Not Share Work Devices - Work laptops should not double as household devices. Even brief use by someone else can introduce risk through downloads, logins, or unknown activity.
Use Strong Passwords and MFA - Use long passphrases instead of simple passwords, and enable multi-factor authentication across all accounts. This adds a critical layer of protection against compromised credentials.
Keep Devices Updated and Supported - Enable automatic updates and restart when prompted. If a device can no longer receive updates, it should not be used for work.
Secure Your Home Wi-Fi - Your home network should be treated like part of your business environment. Use a strong password, enable modern encryption, and update your router regularly.
The most effective approach is to standardize these fundamentals so they become part of the normal workflow. When screen locks, secure sign-ins, regular updates, and controlled data storage are treated as non-negotiable, risk is reduced without creating unnecessary complexity.

Websites promising free World Cup streams may look convincing, with video players, match schedules, and “Watch Live” buttons, but many are built to serve scams instead of soccer. These sites can trigger pop-ups, fake virus warnings, bogus download prompts, suspicious redirects, and requests for personal information.
How to Stay Safe: Use official broadcasters and trusted streaming services. Be cautious of sites promising every match for free in HD with no signup. Do not click through endless “continue,” “resume,” or “play” prompts, and never download software or enter personal information to watch a stream. When in doubt, close the page.

Employee Spotlight: Julie Vasquez
Julie Vasquez has been part of MVP since 2011 and has supported the team in many different ways over the years. While her work has not been technical, she has helped in Reception, Warehouse, Operations, Accounts Receivable, and Procurement, making her a valuable part of the MVP team.
When Julie is not helping keep things moving at MVP, she enjoys spending time with her family. She has been married for 18 years and has a son, a daughter, and a French bulldog named Luna. Her kids keep the family busy with school and travel sports.
