Getting Privacy Compliance Right in 2026Getting privacy compliance right in 2026

Privacy regulations are changing fast, and 2026 is a turning point for businesses of every size. New state, federal, and global laws are stacking up, making outdated policies and one-time compliance checklists risky.

Privacy is no longer a “set it and forget it” task. It requires an ongoing, realistic approach that reflects how data is actually collected, used, and protected.

Strengthen your privacy posture with these essentials:

Know What Data You Collect
Be clear about what personal information you gather, why you need it, and how it is used. Vague language creates risk.

Make Consent Simple and Flexible
Consent should be active, documented, and easy to change or withdraw. If data use changes, consent must be refreshed.

Be Transparent About Third Parties
Disclose vendors that process data, such as email, payment, or analytics tools, and verify their privacy practices.

Enable Privacy Rights Requests
Users should be able to access, correct, or delete their data without confusion or delay.

Align Privacy With Security
Encryption, multi-factor authentication, and routine security reviews are now baseline expectations.

Modernize Cookie and Tracking Controls
Users expect meaningful control. Avoid default opt-ins and clearly explain tracking tools.

Set and Enforce Retention Limits
Holding data indefinitely increases risk. Define how long data is kept and how it is securely removed.

Prepare for AI Transparency
If automated systems influence decisions, users must be informed and able to request review.

Privacy compliance in 2026 is ongoing, not optional. Done right, it builds trust, reduces risk, and strengthens your reputation. A clear, well-maintained privacy approach turns compliance from a burden into a business advantage.

Catch of the Month: Fake Amazon Safety Recall ScamsFake Amazon Safety Recall

Cybercriminals are sending convincing emails and text messages that appear to come from Amazon, warning recipients about a “safety recall” on a recent purchase. These messages urge immediate action, include realistic order numbers, and link to shortened URLs designed to steal login credentials, payment information, or install malware. The sense of urgency and concern for safety makes these scams especially effective.

How to Stay Safe: Do not click links in recall or refund messages. Instead, log in directly to your Amazon account by typing the website address into your browser. Check your official order history for any alerts. Watch for shortened links, generic greetings, and pressure to act quickly. Report suspicious messages to Amazon and notify your IT team if the message reaches a work email.

MVP In The Community

Earlier this month, our CEO, Ikram Massabini, partnered with OneGroup Insurance and MLMIC Insurance Company to meet with the executive team at Buffalo Medical Group and deliver practical AI training. The program focuses on safe, compliant adoption that improves clinical workflows—and enables physicians to earn CME credits while exploring real‑world use cases that elevate patient care.

In February, the MVP team will be giving back to our community by supporting the Ronald McDonald House. Our team will be preparing and serving a meal for families who are staying there while their loved ones receive medical care. It’s a small way to offer comfort, support, and a sense of normalcy during a difficult time.
